ReplyDeleteI sew just enough to get by and here's the proof... a couple of weeks ago I attempted to make a new carseat cover for my daughter's bitty baby. My four year old patiently sat beside me as I drew the pattern and cut out the fabric. Once it was time to move on to the sewing machine my daughter gave me a puzzled look then jumped up and ran off. She returned moments later with the perfect solution, her tape runner! Alas, I'm afraid we are paper crafters to the core. Thanks for keeping us inspired! :)
ReplyDeleteMany years ago I learned to quilt as a child when my mother had her own quilting store. Now, I can say I sew buttons and try to hem pants. Sad!!

ReplyDeleteI learned to crochet when I was 11 or 12. My grandmother taught me how to teach me to stay still. When I was in High School my mother taught me how to embroider and how to sew. After my children were born I learned to knit but I really did not pick it up and do something with it until I was in my 40's. My mother in law taught me to quilt when I was 18. In just the past few months have I stared making cards with my local craft shop "Craft Crossing" in Gonzales, giving lessons.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy quilting and making small items like placemats, napkins, sachets etc. I also like to do small watercolor paintings, and scrapbooking, and I especially like cardmaking..and growing african violets. And I enjoy all this from a wheelchair, having learned these crafts have brought me so much joy and I love to share them with friends. I am also a caregiver for my family,my husband has cancer and my son has acute renal failure..doing crafts has brought me a quality of life I did not have because now I may not do the things I used to do but I do small things and do them well..I have learned that the spirit cannot be vanquished. My favorite part of My Craft Channel is not only the great buys but the Tip of the Day, I have learned how to use all the embellishments and make the best of what I purchase..Thank you for being a part of my life, I look forward at the end of the day to spending quiet time with you.
ReplyDeleteI love to sew but no machine so by hand, just easy ones. I used to crochet back high school. :)
